So whats the BIG DEAL about using an organic shampoo?, Traditional sulfate based shampoos were designed for caucasion hair types, those shampoos contain heavy and harsh sulfates sometimes 4-6 different kinds of sulfates, straight hair is usually very oily since the sebum which is produced from the scalp is able to find its way down to the very tip of the hair, sulfate based shampoos are great for that type of hair. HOWEVER, research shows that afro textured hair, whether relaxed, natural or loc'd, is quite the opposite. Our kinks and coils and curls prevent sebum from traveling to the tip of the hair. That makes our hair prone to dryness, therefore using an organic shampoo which cleans the hair but does not strip all of our much needed oils is BEST for Afro textured hair.
